MUMS!!!

I've been toying with a Mums flower design for a while and just wasn't happy with it. I kept tweaking till finally I got something I ended up really liking. To my surprise, my husband really liked these as well. He's always supportive of my designs but for some reason he really liked this one. So here's a peak...

Tweets Calendar

I've been working on something that I'm rather fond of recently, my Tweets! I've been working on a small calendar based on these illustrations that are so fun for me to do because of the charm and simplicity of these characters. I sort of came upon them in my sketchbook one night. They just came out of my pencil complete with their personalities. They're a pair of fun little characters that just enjoy all the little things in life. So I wanted to create a calendar that showcased Tweets moments for each month, so they can be enjoyed all year round. My idea was to print it in very heavy Strathmore Bristol that has a great texture so that when each month is over you can cut out the illustration and keep it. Essentially, at the end of the year you'd have a small collection of Tweets illustrated cards. I finally finished all the illustrations and worked on the calendar and am very happy with the way it turned out. The color looks great on the paper and I love how thick the pages are, I'm very happy with the overall outcome.

Latest Card...

I've been working on this wedding for some time now and I stepped away for a bit to design another valentine. I actually had a lot of fun working on this one particular card. I think I stepped a little bit outside of what I normally do and I was happy with the result.

Something Blue...

I'm currently working on a wedding suite that I'm quite enjoying. The bride has wonderful taste and so the invitations will be lovely. Her color theme is this sweet blue with the crisp white of the lovely cotton paper these are being printed on and it truly does look exquisite.
I like to see peoples' processes as they work through their craft and with that in mind, I always photograph mine. I decided to post it here as I particularly enjoy going back and taking a look once the whole invitation  suite is completed. I think it really shows how much work and attention goes into each invitation.

Valentine's Day Cards

I wanted to post some new stuff I've been working on. These are a few of the Valentine's Day cards I'd like to have up. I already posted one and hope to have the other up by tomorrow. I'd also like to have more designed soon to have a little variety.

International Project

I am very excited this week! I will be leaving for Costa Rica in 10 days!!! I can't even begin to explain how excited I am. I was born in Costa Rica and moved to the US when I was 7. We went back every summer the day after school was out and came back home the day before school started up again! So I guess you could say we lived about 3 months in Costa Rica and the rest of the year here. They were fantastic vacations spent at my grandma's house, who I always miss so much. As we grew older, we had more obligations and weren't really able to leave for the summers like before. It's been 3 years since I have seen my family. I saw my grandparents about 2 years ago when they came for my wedding but of course it's never enough and parting is always so hard. So I've been preparing for the trip and making little gifts for my cousins and aunts. They love my stationery and I really like the thought of giving them something I've made especially for them. I particularly enjoyed making one present and that is for my aunt Leda. She is very crafty herself and has started a small business selling her handmade dolls. Apparently, she has quite a following in our little town and I'm very excited to see and photograph her dolls so I can show them off. I figured what better gift than to make her some business cards! So that's what I made her. Here is the design. I am printing and cutting them out now. Hopefully she'll like them as much as I enjoyed making them.

A Wedding to Remember

So I finished a huge project and got permission from the bride to post it. She has been getting fantastic feedback about the invites and keeps telling me everyone is asking who made them. I can't describe how wonderful it is to hear that!
So I had to make 125 wedding invitations in 2 weeks. It was quite a challenge but it has been very rewarding and I took pictures every step of the way to document it all.

All the pieces are printed out here. I printed everything on 11" x 17" paper.

Here are the sheets on the paper cutter and the pieces of matte cardstock I had already glued together to frame the invitation.

Now everything is cut and ready to be assembled!

Here are the invites and RSVPs glued onto the matte card stock. They looked great!

And here are the stuffed closed invitations sealed with the printed bands!

I will be posting the final invitation soon!
